Plastic Product Design

Custom Molded Plastic Parts (CMPP) services their potential customers. For example, shown below is a cup holder for an aviation customer. The customer sent us a part that was made using thermoforming. We took the concept and enhanced the product.

CMPP uses an interactive process to develop a product bringing it from conceptual idea to a product that can be held. The steps are as follows;

Step 1:
Client and CMPP exchange ideas that begin with receipt of client idea in form of hand sketch to detailed engineering CAD drawing.

Step 2:
We prepare computer generated 3d models using state of the art computer software (Solid Works). Solid Works is the design software of choice for the discerning design engineer. A 3d drawing allows the client to see through an E-Drawing viewer a visual representation of the conceptual idea in 3d. E-Drawing software is software imbedded in the print so anyone can open the drawing and visualize a 3d drawing.

Step 3:
CMPP now knows exactly what the customers sketch looks like. This will allow CMPP to provide in the quoting process an extremely accurate planning number. The client understands what they are asking us to quote on and what to expect through the 3d model. The 3d model allows CMPP to calculate an exact part weights, therefore exact molding costs and exact tooling cost are achieved. An example of the process is below;

Example of the process:

Client Request: Quote on a Label Holder that is currently made out of metal;

Step 1: Interactive discussion on design

Step 2: Creation of the 3d drawing. An example would be;

Step 3: Rapid Prototyping and quoting;

We take the 3-D Drawing and through the process of 3d printing make a prototype. See more details on our 3D printing capabilities under Rapid Prototyping on this Web Page
